Our hotel on Santa Cruz is another winner! A short water taxi ride from Puerto Ayora, the hotel is peaceful and bathed in sun. The welcome area resembles a cave, with river rock and a thatched roof. Our room is at the back of the complex and is a stand alone suite. I forgot to take pictures of the hotel on the iPhone, but if you look up Angemneyer Hotel, you can see some sweet pics.
We arrived at 830 in the morning after our 6 am boat ride from Isabela. The super nice staff gave us breakfast and set up a tour for us the following day. Next, We headed to the Charles Darwin center and learned more about turtles and the famous Darwin finches.
Oh wait...a park on the way to the Darwin center? Guess we have to stop!

Finches! The finches on Santa Cruz have adapted well to crumbs and dropped ice cream. The main visitor center was being remodeled, so Bill and I didn't get to have a grand discussion with the kids about natural selection. Maybe next time!
Aren't they cute? These land iguanas
Most likely came after vegetation had been established on the islands. The marine iguanas (uglier and black/grey) most likely arrived first and adapted to getting food from the ocean. They spit out salt water from gills in their necks. Cool to see but I didn't want to get spat on!
